Contributions and moderation
Contribute a real cost with enough context to compare it, while keeping people unidentifiable. These rules are part of the terms of use.
Describe the cost accurately
Use a cost you actually pay or are authorized to report for your household. Enter its original currency, the period it covers, the payment date and what is included. Explain your circumstances using the offered answers. Different genuine costs can be submitted separately; do not repeat the same payment to make it count more often.
Submit unusual but real costs accurately. Being above or below an average does not by itself make a cost false. Do not invent a price, submit promotional claims, impersonate someone or coordinate submissions to manipulate a result.
Leave identifying and sensitive details out
Do not enter a name, home address, coordinates, building identifier, phone number, another person's email or any other detail identifying a household. A district must be selected from the offered list; it must not be inferred or described in free text. Do not upload or send bills, contracts, medical records or other evidence for review.
Health contributions are closed while Austrian legal advice is pending. Do not enter diagnoses or medical details in another category or in a note. If you accidentally submitted identifying or sensitive information, delete it and contact us if you need help.
What a reviewer checks
Each new or edited contribution waits for a human review. Reviewers work only in their assigned places and cannot approve their own submissions. They check the amount, dates and answers for plausibility, consistency and privacy. Software can flag possible duplicates or unusual values; it does not decide whether the contribution is published.
A reviewer may approve a plausible contribution or reject it for an implausible amount, inconsistent context, a privacy risk, duplication or an invalid date. Reviewers do not change your amount to make it fit an average. Approval means the entry passed these checks; it remains unverified because we do not check supporting documents.
When a contribution affects a public number
Only approved contributions within the category's freshness period count. Each public comparison and every displayed subgroup needs at least five different contributors. Within one comparison each person counts once, using their latest eligible entry. A private comparison needs five other people and explains if it must broaden the group.
Your original currency is kept. Contributions in different currencies are never combined; incompatible cost types are kept separate. Official figures are never mixed into contributed figures. Editing sends a contribution back to review, and an expired figure stops counting without being deleted from your account.
Ask for a reason or another review
Your account shows the status of your submissions. To ask why a contribution was rejected or to challenge a restriction, email us from your account address with the contribution number, decision if known and why you think it is wrong. A person will reconsider the facts and reply; this is not an automated appeal.
We explain the reason for restrictions, including the relevant rule or legal ground and available remedies. You can correct a contribution and submit it again. There is no charge to ask for reconsideration, and doing so does not prevent you from seeking a statutory remedy.
